Chocolate has a rich history that dates back to ancient civilizations in Mesoamerica, where it was consumed as a bitter beverage made from roasted cacao beans. The Aztecs and Mayans revered chocolate for its medicinal and ceremonial properties, and it was often used as currency. It wasn’t until the 16th century that chocolate was introduced to Europe, where it gained popularity as a sweetened drink among the aristocracy. The first chocolate bar was created in 1847 by Joseph Fry in England, and the modern chocolate industry has since evolved to produce a wide variety of chocolate products enjoyed worldwide.
