There are two primary types of earwax: wet and dry. Wet earwax is sticky and yellow to brown in color, while dry earwax is flaky and gray to tan. The type of earwax an individual has is determined genetically, with wet earwax being more common in people of African and European descent, and dry earwax more common in people of East Asian and Native American descent.
