Plants communicate with each other through chemical signals emitted into the air or soil. For example, when a plant is attacked by pests, it may release volatile organic compounds that neighboring plants can detect, triggering them to produce defensive chemicals. Some plants also communicate through underground networks of fungal mycelium, known as the “Wood Wide Web.”
